A charitable organization in Scotland is seeking Companion Volunteers to provide emotional support during a person's end-of-life journey. Volunteers will engage in conversation, help individuals express their feelings, and offer comfort. This role requires 3-4 hours a week and provides training, a warm volunteer community, and a chance to make a lasting difference. Interested individuals can apply online and provide two non-family references.
This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
Become a Companion Volunteer and offer the one thing that matters most - your presence.
Whether it's sharing stories, chatting about life, playing some music or sitting beside someone, your time can bring warmth, comfort and connection to someone who truly needs it. Sometimes, just being there is everything.
As a Companion Volunteer, you'll provide emotional support and conversation, help people express what matters most to them, share helpful information. You may also support family members or carers, both before and after bereavement.
You’ll receive full training and ongoing support from the Marie Curie team, and you’ll be joining a community that cares as deeply as you do. We’ll never ask you to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
We’re currently welcoming companion volunteers across Fifelocationseither as a regular visitor in a person's home, care home or in hospital.
You’ll need to be 18 or older, complete a short online application, and provide two non-family references.
There’s no pressure to apply. If you’d like to talk through the role or ask questions, we’re here for you with honest answers and a warm welcome.
