Voice and Unified Communications Projects Engineer (MS Teams Administrator)

We are seeking an experienced Voice and Unified Communications Projects Engineer (MS Teams Administrator) to support the delivery of major telephony and unified communications transformation programmes across ELFT. This role requires a hands-on project engineer, not a service desk or purely operational support background.

The successful candidate must have strong experience in Microsoft Teams Voice administration and end-to-end UC migrations, particularly transitioning services from legacy voice platforms (PSTN, Avaya, etc.) to MS Teams.

This is an on-site role across East London, Luton, and Bedfordshire, with frequent travel between sites -- own transport is essential. The candidate must be London-based or within short commutable distance.

The environment is fast-paced and requires someone who is organised, proactive, technically confident, and able to communicate effectively with clinical and operational leaders.

Main duties of the job
  • Deliver hands‑on project work for the migration of legacy telephony services to Microsoft Teams Voice.
  • Configure, deploy, and support Teams endpoints (handsets, headsets, common‑area devices).
  • Carry out site‑based readiness assessments (network, Wi‑Fi, switching, cabling, device checks) alongside operational teams (Networks, Server, Voice & Uc, etc).
  • Work closely with the Voice & UC Programme team (PM's, BA's, etc) to plan, prepare and execute cutovers.
  • Engage directly with clinical teams, site leads, Estates and Digital stakeholders.
  • Perform MS Teams configuration including:
    • Auto Attendants, Call Queues, Resource Accounts
    • Dial Plans, Calling Policies, Voice Routing
    • Endpoint profile configuration
  • Support number PORTs and coordination with third‑party telcos.
  • Provide on‑site troubleshooting, user training and go‑live support.
  • Ensure all deployments follow Trust governance, downtime authority, and change freeze processes.
  • Represent Digital Voice & UC as a subject matter expert on‑site.

Project Delivery

  • Lead site‑level technical delivery for UC migrations in line with project plans.
  • Assist BA's in conducting detailed site surveys to identify required hardware, endpoints, VLANs, and infrastructure readiness.
  • Perform physical deployment of handsets and related UC equipment.
  • Ensure smooth migration for clinical and operational services, including receptions, crisis teams, community teams and inpatient wards.
  • Configure MS Teams Voice routing, policies, dial plans and user profiles.
  • Build and maintain Auto Attendants, Call Queues and resource accounts.
  • Configure and manage Teams‑certified handsets (Yealink or equivalent).
  • Apply best practice for numbering, naming conventions, and governance.

Telephony Migrations & Support

  • Migrate services from legacy systems (Avaya, BT, MSD, PSTN, etc).
  • Coordinate number PORTs with telco suppliers and ensure smooth cutovers.
  • Test inbound/outbound routing, call flows, and contingency arrangements.
  • Provide second and third‑line UC engineering support during go‑live.

  • Work with site managers, Estates, Digital Networks, SD‑WAN team, and other partners to ensure readiness.
