A local community support service in Wales is seeking a Personal Assistant to provide support for a young person with Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy in Barry. The role involves assisting with social activities, providing personal care, and navigating public transport. Candidates should be confident, outgoing, and reliable, with a preferred experience in care and a driver's license. This is a part-time position with variable hours.
Job title: Personal Assistant (PA) required to support a young person living in Barry who has Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and uses an electric wheelchair. The PA will help with going out, socialising, and maintaining independence.
The PA will support outings and social activities, access public transport, and may drive a van on occasion. A valid driver’s licence is required.
In and around the area of Barry
3 hours per week
17:00–20:00 on weekdays
Any time after 10:00 on weekends
£15.00 per hour
Although part-time, the role is a proper employment position requiring a National Insurance number. A trial period will apply. Pay is monthly with holiday pay. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) check (to be carried out before employment begins). The employer (Local Authority) will cover the cost of the DBS check. Checks will be carried out to confirm the right to work in the UK.
