Overview

Vocational Instructor – Carpentry
Location: Sutton
Contract: Full-time, Temp to Perm
Hours: 8:45am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging carpentry sessions that meet City and Guilds standards and support students in developing practical trade skills.
  • Assessment and Progress: Monitor, assess, and record learner progress, providing constructive feedback to promote achievement and confidence.
  • Workshop Management: Maintain a safe and organised learning environment, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are used safely and appropriately.
  • Learner Support: Build positive relationships with students, promoting good attendance, behaviour, and engagement in learning.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and best practice.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and support staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience.
Requirements
  • Relevant vocational qualification in Carpentry or Construction (City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Previous experience teaching or training young people in a vocational setting (school, college, or training provider).
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A commitment to supporting students with additional needs or those disengaged from mainstream education.
  • DBS check will be required. A suitable DBS will be processed on your behalf where applicable.
