Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Field-based VMU Technician to maintain a fleet of vehicles for a contract customer. The role requires visiting customer sites and performing preventative maintenance and repairs with a focus on safety and reliability.

You will use diagnostic skills, read wiring diagrams, and complete related paperwork while coordinating with the VMU team. A full driving licence and flexibility across depots are essential to cover leave and workload fluctuations.

Qualifications

• Mechanical and/or refrigeration experience; able to read wiring diagrams and technical information.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written; able to work with minimal supervision.
• Full driving licence.
• Flexibility to work at different locations when required – covering leave, sickness and workload.

Responsibilities

• Undertake comprehensive preventative maintenance and repair standards.
• Diagnose faults and ensure correct replacement parts are fitted; manage warranty claims accordingly.
• Record all paperwork accurately, including service sheets and timesheets.
• Attend customer sites to carry out repairs and provide proactive support.
• Build rapport with customers and contribute to a positive team culture.
• Support continuous improvement of VMU processes and safety practices.
