Calderdale Museums & Arts Service is looking for part‑time Visitor Services Assistants to work across its sites, including weekends and, on occasion, evenings.

Hours and vacancies

  • 2 permanent positions – 21.79 and 19.40 annualised hours per week on a seasonal rota across sites.
  • 2 seasonal fixed‑term positions – March to 31 October 2026, 33 and 32.5 hours per week on a two‑week rota across sites.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the vital point of contact for visitors, providing a high standard of customer care and ensuring they enjoy and learn from their experience at the museum.
  • Maintain strong interpersonal skills and work with the public in a customer service environment, whether paid or voluntary.
  • Be literate, numerate and ideally have experience of cash handling and financial administration.
  • Serve as a key holder for the service, with occasional out‑of‑hours call‑outs.
  • Possess practical cleaning and general maintenance skills and maintain awareness of Health & Safety issues.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with the public in a customer service environment.
  • Literate and numerate.
  • Experience of cash handling and financial administration is desirable.
  • Key holder experience and practical cleaning/maintenance knowledge preferred.
