Job description

Start date: January 2026

A part‑time Visiting Officer is required to join the Corporate Visiting team to carry out Financial Assessment visits relating to Adult Social Care client assessments and care contributions as well as inspections for the Council Tax NNDR Benefits and Planning Enforcement service lines.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
  • Prioritise Adult Social Care visits to complete Financial Assessments and collate the relevant financial documentation to forward to the Financial Assessment team.
  • Assist clients with maximizing their benefits by identifying their entitled benefits and signposting them to the DWP as required.
  • Conduct Council Tax and NNDR inspection visits.
  • Provide Council Tax / NNDR advice relating to all discounts and exemptions.
  • Conduct Planning enforcement inspections.
  • Visit and support members of the public in completing application changes including online applications in relation to Housing & Council tax benefit claims.
  • Gather / verify evidence in support of benefit applications and all other inspections carried out.
  • The post holder is required to take reasonable care of the health and safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their work to comply with the Health and Safety Policy and to co‑operate with Liberata on health and safety matters at all times.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with a minimum 5 grades A‑C including English and Maths.
  • Experience understanding in meeting targets and developing own performance.
  • Good use of various IT systems and applications including Word, Excel, Access etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of DWP benefits and Financial Assessments.
  • Car essential.
Security vetting and checks:

If you are successful you will need to comply with the government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) verification process. This includes a basic criminal record check which will identify any unspent convictions. If you are unable to meet these requirements your offer may be revoked.
