Job description
Overview

Job title: Visiting Lecturers in PGCE Business with Economics. Salary: £57.52 contact hour (inclusive of hourly holiday pay). The University of Roehampton is seeking to appoint a Visiting Lecturer to join the Secondary PGCE team as a Business with Economics tutor. The appointment may involve leading and delivering modules and may also involve contributing to student placement supervision and pastoral care.

We encourage a blended learning approach to teaching, combining traditional lectures, seminars, practical sessions, and student-led discussions. We support students through employability and skill-led experiential learning and provide activities and material beyond scheduled contact time. There are currently established resources for the majority of teaching to be covered.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver modules for the PGCE Secondary Business with Economics program.
  • Contribute to student placement supervision and pastoral care where required.
  • Support students and mark assessments at a postgraduate level; participate in setting and assessing work.
  • Engage with blended teaching approaches and employability and skills development as part of the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective delivery and progression of modules.
  • Starting date: September 2026. Interviews will be conducted as applications are received.
Salary and conditions
  • Rate of pay: £47.17 per classroom contact hour plus £10.35 holiday pay per hour (to cover preparation, assessments, meetings and marking).
  • Additional marking, moderation and content development paid at £23.01 per hour plus £4.31 holiday pay per hour.
Qualifications and qualities
  • Qualified Teacher Status and experience as a Business and Economics teacher in an English Secondary School are essential.
  • Experience with blended teaching approaches, supporting students, and marking assessments at a postgraduate level.
  • Student-focused; excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; flexible and adaptable.
