Job description

Ref: 35492

This is an opportunity to work with a national title undergoing a significant growth and transformation. With a new Editorial Director, television arm and radio arm, the organisation is now looking to appoint a video journalist to contribute toward their evening news coverage. This is a newsroom that values on the ground reporting, values editorial craft, and people who can take a pitch to package with real ownership.

We’re looking for an experienced Video Journalist to join the Evening News team as a senior member of a growing unit. You’ll work alongside three developing journalists and work with the editor to develop standards, add structure, and set the pace on a small island with big stories.

This is a role for someone who wants to lead by example, broaden their skillset, and carve out opportunities in a newsroom backed by long‑term investment, expanding output, and rare stability in an industry that often lacks it.

Why Cayman?

Beyond the tax neutrality and world‑class sunsets, the Cayman Islands offer a high standard of living, outstanding healthcare and schooling, a safe and family‑friendly environment, and a professional opportunity to shape discourse in a key offshore financial centre.

The move is supported by full relocation assistance, and you’ll be joining a newsroom in real transformation, with significant investment behind it and a clear editorial vision ahead.

Key responsibilities
  • Pitch original story ideas and develop contracts across business and politics across the island.
  • Shoot, write, and edit packages in time for the evening news programme.
  • Respond to breaking news and work collaboratively with a team of journalists to fill the rundown.
Key requirements
  • Proven experience as a video journalist
  • Confident in shooting, scripting, and editing your own stories
  • Fluency in business and politics, with the ability to cover stories across financial services, regulation, education, tourism, and infrastructure
