Job summary

Heriot-Watt University is seeking a Communications & Content Officer (Video & Digital Storytelling) to develop integrated communications with a focus on video and multimedia content that supports Strategy 2035, institutional priorities and corporate reputation.

Based across the University, the postholder will plan, film, edit and publish compelling video and visual content for internal and external audiences while delivering high-quality written communications; this role combines storytelling

Qualifications

• Experience of filming and editing professional video content for varied audiences and platforms.
• Practical knowledge of editing software and motion graphics tools.
• Working knowledge of camera, audio and lighting equipment on location.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with ability to produce scripts and content.
• Experience in developing digital content including websites, newsletters and social media video.
• Strong organisation and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, film, edit and publish high-quality video content for internal and external audiences.
• Oversee full production process from concept to final delivery across platforms.
• Capture footage on location across campuses and events with appropriate equipment.
• Edit content into multiple formats and aspect ratios for different channels.
• Produce accessible video content with captions and transcripts.
• Publish and optimise video and digital content across channels and CMS tools.
