Job summary

Lift Clacton is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant (Visual Impairment) to support students with VI in accessing the curriculum and taking part in school life. You will work with teachers and specialists to understand needs, adapt resources, and promote independence and confidence.

Join a team focused on inclusive learning; you will help students develop learning skills, use assistive technology, and progress within a supportive academy environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4 or equivalent, or willing to work towards.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or willingness to obtain one.
  • Basic understanding of child learning and development, or readiness to learn.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work with empathy with students.
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, SEND staff and specialists.
  • Willingness to adapt resources for visual impairment.

Responsibilities

  • Support students with visual impairment to access lesson content and learning objectives.
  • Adapt learning resources to meet VI needs, including enlarged or tactile materials.
  • Assist with using accessible technology and tools as directed.
  • Follow guidance from teachers, QTVIs and specialists.
  • Promote independence, confidence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
  • Deliver targeted interventions within agreed parameters.
  • Support social, emotional and mental health, wellbeing and personal care.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff.
