Situated in the beautiful cathedral city of Wakefield in West Yorkshire, our client is growing fast and now seeks an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong surgical bias to join their close-knit team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with natural leadership qualities who is ready to help shape the future of this thriving practice. You’ll be a confident general practitioner with a particular interest in surgery, eager to support the development of the clinical team while delivering gold-standard care. A passion for clinical excellence and a proactive, team-focused mindset will set you up for success in this role.

Wakefield itself offers the perfect blend of history, charm, and convenience. Nestled along the River Calder, it boasts a rich heritage, mild climate, and excellent transport links. Whether you’re a local or considering a relocation, it’s a wonderful place to live and work.

The practice has recently undergone a full refurbishment and is now home to high-end, modern facilities including dedicated kennels and cattery, a fully equipped sterile operating theatre, radiography suite, ultrasound, dental machine with dental radiography, in-house lab, spacious consultation rooms, and welcoming reception, office, and kitchen areas. The team is fresh, energetic, and highly motivated, led by a new lead nurse and a senior client care administrator, all working together to make this clinic a standout service in the region.

This is a brand new role, meaning you’ll have the opportunity to shape it from the ground up. While you’ll initially focus on routine procedures, the scope to grow the surgical service into a more advanced offering is wide open. You’ll be supported by a leadership structure that values engagement and collaboration, including monthly site meetings, fortnightly check-ins with the lead vet, and regular all-vet meetings, giving you the chance to be heard and have real influence.

The ideal candidate will spend around four hours a day in theatre, followed by two to four hours of consulting. A typical 40-hour week can be arranged across 3.5 days, though our client is flexible and open to creating a rota that suits your lifestyle and needs.

If this opportunity sparks your interest and you’d like to learn more, we’d love to hear from you. Don’t hesitate to get in touch and explore what your future could look like in this exciting and supportive environment.
