Job description

Are you an experienced vet who values clinical freedom, a genuinely supportive team, and a role where you can enjoy your work without burning out? This well-established, independent Tyne and Were practice is looking for an experienced vet to join their dedicated team. The practice has over a century of history and is known for its loyal client base and commitment to high-quality, modern veterinary care. This is the kind of environment where people stay because they're listened to, supported, and encouraged to grow. This position can be tailored around your interests, whether you prefer pure small animal or a mixed caseload. You'll be joining a collaborative team that genuinely enjoys working together, where cases are shared and discussed openly. Clinical standards are high, but so is the emphasis on kindness, communication, and balance.

The Rota
  • 1 night on call per week (with backup support)
  • 1 full weekend on call in 6
    • With a long weekend built in (Friday or Monday off)
    • No on-call the following week
  • 1 Saturday morning in 3
  • Bank holidays shared fairly across the team
The Offer
  • Competitive salary (DOE)
  • Flexibility for part-time or full-time working
  • Approx. 80% small animal, with optional exposure to equine and farm work
  • Relocation support, vehicle or accommodation available
  • Generous CPD allowance with encouragement to pursue your interests
  • Two pay reviews within your first 12 months
  • Bonus and profit-sharing scheme after year one
  • 6 weeks' holiday + your birthday off
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • BUPA private healthcare
  • Paid RCVS & VDS memberships
  • Workplace pension
  • Enhanced sickness pay (after 1 year)
  • Discounted treatment for your own pets

This role is ideal for a vet who wants to feel valued, trusted, and part of something long-term.
