Job description
Overview

Your next opportunity awaits at Oakmount Veterinary Centre! Salary up to £65,000 DOE.

We have an exciting opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join our team at our single-site practice. Your day-to-day would involve consultation days and surgery days, with the opportunity to work up your own cases. There will be some sole charge, but this is minimal. Fix or flex - find your perfect balance.

We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance. Whether you are looking to fix or flex your work patterns, we can find the right solution for you. Our vets work various shifts between 8am and 7.30pm, and 1:4 weekends, with time off in the week in lieu. There is no OOH. We care for our own inpatients overnight, which is nurse-led, with vets taking part in a 1:6/7 inpatient rota to answer questions if needed. Most of our Vets work 4 days per week, split between 3 consult days and 1 guaranteed ops day. We are keen to hear from those looking for full time, part time or flexible work and happy to discuss what works for you!

About the practice

Oakmount are a first opinion, small animal practice. There would be the opportunity for you to enhance your feline medicine knowledge if you wish. We have 5 consulting rooms, 3 theatres (orthopaedics, soft tissue), digital x-ray with both vertical and horizontal beam, dental x-ray, ultrasound, in-house blood machines, as well as all the usual equipment. We have an extensive refurbishment of the building underway across the practice, substantially investing in our consult rooms, prep area, waiting area and changing facilities - completion expected within the coming months.

Burnley is a great place to live and work and is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. There has been significant regeneration and development in recent years with investments in infrastructure, community and educational facilities. We have great transport links to many major cities including Manchester and Liverpool. Or, if you prefer a change from the hustle and bustle, we have many wonderful country walks locally and are only a short journey away from both the Lake District and Peak District.

Preventative health care and case continuity are all important to us and mean that during your time at Oakmount vets, you will build great working relationships with your clients and patients! We have some wonderful reviews on Google to reflect this! We are Lancashire’s family-oriented vets who will put your wellbeing first!

About the team

We have 7 vets (1 of which is a clinical director), a practice director, 10 RVNs, 3 SVNs, 2 VCAs and a support team of 6. We are an SVN training practice. Everyone is hard-working, friendly and supportive. Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience, with 3 certificate holders (surgery, ophthalmology and exotic animal medicine and surgery), and are able to support you with your own areas of interest. Development is encouraged and certificates funded.
