Job summary

Oakfield Vets in Birmingham is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team. The role involves assisting in surgical procedures and offering expert advice during consultations across a varied caseload.

The position is mainly at Castle Bromwich with occasional coverage at Tamworth and Atherstone. A more experienced candidate capable of sole charge is preferred. A four-day week with a Saturday rota, no out-of-hours requirements, and 15-minute consults are offered.

Qualifications

  • A Veterinary degree and registration (or eligibility to register) with the RCVS.
  • Experience working in clinical practice with growing confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.

Permanent Veterinary Surgeon at Oakfield Vets, Birmingham

Up to £65,000 (DOE)

Welcome bonus of up to £5000 (pro rata)

Your role will involve a range of tasks, from assisting in surgical procedures to providing expert advice during consultations, your daily routine will offer a diverse and stimulating mix of responsibilities. This variety not only keeps your work engaging and interesting but also provides you with the opportunity to learn and grow in a varied professional environment. This role will mainly be based at our Castle Bromwich site, but there will be occasions in which you'll be needed to cover our other sites in Tamworth and Atherstone. Ideally, we're looking for a more experienced candidate, who'd be capable of covering periods of sole charge.

The rota

Your typical working hours would be 8am - 7pm across a four-day week, along with the shared Saturday rota. There is no out-of-hours requirement. We are closed on Sundays and Bank holidays. We offer 15-minute consulting appointments and surgery time each weekday.

You'll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.

About Us

We are proud to have a close-knit supportive team of 8 vets, 13 nurses, 2 SVNs, 1 VCA, 4 receptionists, a Client Coordinator, Mental Health First Aider, Feline and Canine Behaviourists, Small Animal Medicine and Exotics Certificate holders, as well as an Advanced Practitioner as part of our team. We encourage all interests, CPD, and certificate ambitions. We have most gadgets including: Digital Radiography, Dental Radiography, Laser and Ultrasound including cardiac probe. We are also an ISFM Cat Friendly Silver Accredited practice. We actively encourage our team members to contribute ideas and suggestions so we can continue improving our standards as high as possible to benefit staff, clients and our patients.
