Job description

Veterinary Surgeon - Farm
Kernow Veterinary Group - Bodmin
Salary up to £65,000 DOE and relocation allowance up to £2,000
12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

At inspiring vet care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.

Kernow Vets, part of ivc, is looking for a confident Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet who enjoys building client relationships and making a genuine difference to livestock health and farm productivity. Working closely with the local farming community, you'll become a trusted advisor, delivering practical, sustainable veterinary care that supports both animal welfare and the long-term success of our clients' businesses.

A Diverse and Rewarding Farm Caseload

No two days are the same at Kernow Vets. You'll work with a wide variety of clients, from smallholdings to large beef, sheep and mixed farms, providing everything from TB testing and herd health planning to preventative medicine, emergency care and dispensary work. The role also includes artificial insemination, predominantly in cattle, offering plenty of clinical variety and the opportunity to develop strong, lasting relationships with the farmers you support.

Equipped to Succeed

This is primarily an ambulatory role, giving you the independence to manage your own day while remaining fully supported by the wider team. You'll be provided with a fully equipped vehicle, mobile phone and laptop, with access to our practice facilities whenever needed. As part of the role, you'll take part in a shared on-call rota and occasional sole charge, so a TB testing qualification and confidence working independently are essential.

Join a Team That Has Your Back

You’ll become part of an experienced and collaborative farm team, supported by a dedicated TB testing team, ACA, Vet Tech and Client Care colleagues who all share the same goal of delivering outstanding service to our farming clients. We value teamwork, open communication and maintaining a healthy work-life balance, with time off in lieu helping to keep workloads manageable throughout the year.

A Flexible Rota with Work-Life Balance in Mind

This is a 12-month fixed-term role working 40 hours per week across four 10-hour days (8:30am-6:30pm), although part-time applications of 30 hours or more are also welcomed. The rota includes 1 in 4 weekends and 1 in 4 out-of-hours, with commitments easing slightly during the quieter summer months to help maintain a sustainable balance.
