Competitive salary package (£45,000–£72,000 DOE) with generous CPD and benefits
Outstanding Lake District location with exceptional lifestyle and outdoor opportunities

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a highly regarded, award-winning independent practice in Cumbria. A cornerstone of the local community since the 1920s, the practice is renowned for delivering outstanding clinical care within a genuinely supportive, collaborative environment. With an average team tenure of 11 years, the culture is welcoming, stable, and focused on helping every individual thrive.

The practice operates from purpose-built facilities and is equipped with an impressive range of modern technology, including video endoscopy, high-resolution ultrasound, a Class IV laser, Tonovet tonometer, and dental radiography. This enables the team to deliver a wide range of advanced in-house and referral-level services. Veterinary surgeons at all career stages are encouraged to apply, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, case collaboration, and continuing professional development.

The clinical team benefits from the expertise of certificate holders in surgery, medicine, emergency and critical care, cardiology, diagnostic imaging, and exotics, creating an environment where clinical discussion and support are part of everyday practice. Regular clinical meetings balance professional learning with team connection, reinforcing a culture of progression and shared success.

With a team of around 90 colleagues, the social calendar is just as vibrant as the clinical environment. From organised dog walks and social evenings to a much-loved wild swimming group and celebratory summer events, the team places real value on connection, wellbeing, and recognising achievements.

Located in the heart of Cumbria, the role offers more than a rewarding career. Surrounded by the Lake District, the area provides unparalleled access to outdoor living, including hiking, water sports, climbing, and cycling — offering a true work‑life balance within one of the UK’s most beautiful regions.
