Blacks Vets, part of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health, is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a Certificate Holder in Surgery or Medicine to join our close-knit team at our Dudley practice. This role offers a broad case load, mentorship opportunities and career development within a modern hospital.

We are a small animal, first opinion hospital providing 24-hour care, with a supportive nursing team and access to cutting-edge facilities.

Job Title : Veterinary Surgeon - Certificate Holder

Salary : Up to £80,000 per annum (D.O.E.) plus Relocation package available

Location : Blacks Veterinary Practices, West-Midlands

Job Type : Permanent, full-time and part-time applicants welcomed

Hours : 40 hours per week, with a 1:10 full weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and 1:5 Saturdays with time back in Lieu

The Team

Here at Blacks Vets, we have a proven track record of producing talent in a variety of disciplines from graduates to certificate holders, to branch management, leadership, and director roles. As a progressive, growing and highly successful practice, we are always on the lookout for outstanding team members to join our award‑winning friendly team, at our accredited Veterinary Hospital in Dudley and our surrounding local branches (on the edge of the West Midlands, but all within 30 mins of Birmingham City Centre).

Not only do we have great clinical facilities, we also have a spacious break room - including posh coffees!

We have a dedicated night team on site that covers all OOH work. Our last appointment is at 6.30pm during weekdays, and weekend work is shared fairly amongst the team on a rota basis - with time back in lieu the following week.

What we are looking for

We’re looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident across a broad range of first‑opinion cases and is passionate about delivering consistently high standards of patient and client care.

You’ll be:

• RCVS registered , with extensive veterinary experience and a strong clinical foundation across first‑opinion practice.
• A confident and capable clinician with a genuine interest in championing clinical excellence and supporting colleagues through mentoring, particularly within surgical or medical workflows.
• Collaborative and team‑focused , with a commitment to maintaining high standards of clinical and surgical care.
• An excellent communicator who can explain complex diagnoses, treatment options and clinical guidance clearly, with empathy, professionalism and confidence.
• Someone who enjoys sharing knowledge, supporting the development of others and contributing positively to a caring and supportive team.
