Veterinary Surgeon – Barnsley

• Join a thriving, family‑run independent practice in Barnsley with 45+ years of veterinary excellence.
• RCVS‑accredited Tier 2 main centre with top‑class facilities including 5 operating theatres, digital x-ray, endoscopy, advanced ultrasound, in‑house lab and hydrotherapy/physio centre.
• Be part of a highly skilled team including 14 vets, 14 experienced vet nurses + auxiliary nurses, and 4 certificate holders in imaging, cardiology, ECC and more.

An opportunity has opened for a motivated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join this independent group’s friendly, supportive team in the Barnsley area.

This is a fantastic role for someone who enjoys seeing their own clients, managing cases from consult to surgery, and building strong client relationships, while benefiting from the full support of a busy and well‑equipped central 24hr practice.

Each day, vets have 2 hours for surgery and a 2‑hour lunch break. All surgeries are carried out at the main RCVS‑accredited Tier 2 centre, which handles 25–30 surgical procedures daily, allowing great exposure and learning opportunities.

The Team & Support

• Work alongside a friendly and supportive team of 14 vets, 14 experienced RVNs and auxiliary nurses.
• Learn from and be supported by 4 certificate holders across various disciplines.
• All branches are air‑conditioned, have two consult rooms, and are staffed all day.
• Enjoy a busy, vibrant working environment where learning and collaboration are encouraged daily.

Your Role

• Manage your own caseload, consults and client base.
• See cases through from consult to surgery.
• Benefit from the resources and backup of a larger central practice.

Rota & Work‑Life Balance

• Full‑time, permanent role.
• Alternate 3‑ and 4‑day weeks.
• 2‑hour lunch and 2‑hour daily op slot.
• 1 weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) every ~5 weeks (8am–5pm).
• No night emergencies.

Salary & Benefits

• Up to £70,000 salary (depending on experience).
• 6 weeks holiday plus bank holidays (only 1 required to work).
• £3,000 CPD allowance + 2 weeks paid CPD leave.
