Looking for a veterinary role that can genuinely grow with you?

Whether you’d like to develop a clinical interest, work towards a certificate, or simply find a better work-life balance, Hemsworth Vets for Pets offers the flexibility and support to build a career around what matters to you.

You’ll join a friendly, collaborative practice where your ideas are welcomed, your development is encouraged, and you’ll have the facilities and support to deliver excellent patient care.

A practice with plenty of character

Our standalone practice is based in a beautifully converted former fire station, creating a bright, spacious and modern environment for our team, clients and patients.

The practice is fully equipped with excellent facilities, giving you the tools, time and space to work cases up thoroughly and provide high‑quality care locally.

We’ve developed a loyal and supportive client base, and as the practice continues to grow, there’s real scope to develop our services, introduce new ideas and help shape what comes next.

Most importantly, you’ll be joining a welcoming team with a shared commitment to great clinical standards, collaboration and making a difference to the pets and people in our community.

The role

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week and, importantly, there are no out-of-hours requirements, helping you maintain a healthy and sustainable work-life balance.

We’re looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with:

  • Experience in small animal general practice
  • Confidence working sole charge when required
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • A collaborative approach
  • A commitment to delivering high‑quality patient and client care

Above all, we’re looking for someone who wants to develop. We’ll support you in shaping that development around your own interests and ambitions.

Build the career you want

Professional development is a real priority for us.

If you’d like to pursue a certificate or postgraduate qualification, develop a specific clinical interest, or help introduce a new service to the practice, we want to support you.

We’re equally keen to hear your ideas.

If you see an opportunity to improve the practice or expand what we can offer our clients, you’ll have the encouragement to help make it happen.

Salary And Benefits

In return for your experience and commitment, you’ll receive:

  • Salary up to £70,000 DOE
  • £5,000 welcome or relocation bonus
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Generous CPD allowance with funded certificate support
  • Paid professional memberships including RCVS, VDS and one additional membership of your choice
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Private healthcare
  • UK and overseas relocation packages available
  • Visa sponsorship available through an A+ rated sponsor
  • Exclusive colleague discounts, including up to 30% off at Pets at Home and The Groom Room
  • Career progression opportunities across a supportive national network
