Job description
Overview

Are you a competent GP Vet looking for a role with flexibility, support, and a genuinely friendly team? Springfield Vets are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our Wickersley branch in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The salary for this role is £40-70k, depending on experience, plus benefits.

Why Join Us?

Springfield Veterinary Group is a well‑established, 5‑site practice across Sheffield and Rotherham, with a 24‑hour hospital equipped with CT and staffed by a team of advanced practitioners in surgery, medicine, anaesthesia, ECC, and cardiology.

Our Wickersley branch is a recently refurbished, consult‑only site, with ultrasound and blood machines, and hosts our cardiology referral service.

Further to this, we are proud to offer:

  • In‑house OOH cover with a dedicated night team
  • Supportive leadership team that leads by example
  • Opportunities for career progression and certificate study
  • A culture of collaboration, shared learning, and open communication
  • Ensuring our vets are given time to work up cases and share skills, rather than focusing on charging audits.
  • Proving a safe space where you’ll always find someone to talk to - whether it’s our SCD, CD, or one of our senior vets.

We’re proud of our collaborative, approachable, and fun culture. We take our clinical work seriously, but ourselves less so – and we believe that’s the secret to our success.

The Role

This is a first‑opinion GP role with a focus on consultations, interpreting lab results, case planning, prescription oversight, and supporting our nursing and reception teams.

You’ll be working closely with a loyal client base, many of whom have been with us for decades, and benefit from a high percentage of insured clients and a strong work‑up culture.

Rota Options

We’re ideally looking for a full‑time Vet over 4 days at our Wickersley branch, but we’re open to:

  • 3 days/week at Wickersley (Part‑Time)
  • 3 days/week at Wickersley + 1 day/week at our hospital (Full‑Time)

All roles include 1 in 5 weekend days on a rota basis.

Salary & Benefits

Salary is £40-70k, dependent on experience, plus access to our wide range of benefits, including:

  • Vet Oracle – our support platform for veterinary colleagues that provides expert advice and support across a range of clinical areas
  • Buy and sell holiday scheme, pensions, discounts, and more… to view everything available, please see our full suite of benefits on our What We Offer
