Hours: 40 hours per week, 4 days, No OOH; flexible/part time options considered.

We are seeking a new Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team! Whether you're after clinical variety, a supportive team, or better work-life balance, Okeford Veterinary Centre in Okehampton is a great fit for you.

A bit about us

We're a friendly, collaborative 1st opinion practice in Devon, with RCVS accreditation, silver ISFM status, and a strong focus on client care. Our facilities include ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, digital and dental radiography, ECG, and in-house lab. The role involves some work at our Chagford branch when necessary. Our team of 8 vets and 5 nurses offers referrals in surgery and dermatology, with interests in acupuncture and imaging. This role could suit a veterinary surgeon with an interest in Dentistry, but this is not essential.

What makes this role different
  • Flexible hours are considered - if you're after part-time, just let us know
  • You’ll have time to follow through on cases and work with a consistent team
  • No OOH and a share of the Saturday rota
  • Opportunities to pursue certificates and work with advanced equipment including keyhole surgery, endoscopy, dental x-ray machine and our ultrasound machine
  • Short and long term accommodation can be provided.
The location

Based in Okehampton, we’re lucky to be on the edge of Dartmoor and near the beach, offering a fantastic lifestyle with great local amenities and everything you need in town. A good balance of work and life is important here. The role is commutable from Crediton, North Tawton, Launceston, Tavistock, Bovey Tracey, Moretonhampstead, Hatherleigh, Winkleigh, Lapford, West Exeter and other locations in the Devon and Cornwall areas.

What we're looking for
  • Comfortable with routine surgeries and consultations
  • Happy to work as part of a team and sole charge
Benefits

Our standard benefits include:

  • 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (or equivalent) and option to buy/sell an additional 2 weeks!
  • RCVS, VDS and subscription fees paid
  • Generously encouraged and fully funded CPD – abundant opportunities within the business aided by internal and external development courses and programmes
  • Receive an extra days leave each year in your first 5 years at CVS
  • Cycle to work scheme and subsidised gym membership
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Adoption pay
  • Pension scheme – automatic enrolment and completely hassle free
  • Access to First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions across CVS and 300 trained CVS colleagues in this role
  • Colleague discount on pet products and treatments including free consults, and a discount to our online pharmacy, Animed.
