Job summary

Croft Vets in England is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to work full time on-site, delivering high-quality care to small animals across our practice. You will conduct consultations, diagnose conditions, perform surgical procedures, and manage anesthesia and postoperative care.

You will interpret lab results, create treatment plans, advise clients on preventative care, and maintain accurate medical records.

Qualifications

• Qualified veterinary surgeon with MRCVS or eligibility for RCVS registration.

Role Description

The Veterinary Surgeon will work full time on-site, delivering high-quality clinical care to small animal patients. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing consultations, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, carrying out surgical procedures, and managing anesthesia and post-operative care. The role also involves interpreting laboratory results, creating treatment plans, advising clients on preventative healthcare, and maintaining accurate medical records. The Veterinary Surgeon will collaborate closely with veterinary nurses and support staff, contribute to clinical decision-making, and support continuous improvement of practice standards and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Veterinary Surgery, including routine and emergency procedures, and confident anesthesia and pain management competencies.
• Competence in Veterinary Medicine and general Medicine, with the ability to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of small animal conditions.
• Laboratory Skills for performing and interpreting in-house diagnostics and working effectively with external laboratories.
• Proficiency in Pet Care, including preventative healthcare, nutrition advice, and client education to support long-term animal wellbeing.
• Relevant veterinary degree (MRCVS or eligibility for RCVS registration) and compliance with professional and regulatory requirements.
• Clear, empathetic communication skills, with the ability to explain clinical conditions and treatment options to clients.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a clinical team, show sound clinical judgment, and remain calm under pressure.
• Previous small animal practice experience is highly advantageous; interest in further clinical development or a particular discipline is welcomed.
