Job description

Are you an ambitious Veterinary Surgeon looking for a role where you can truly thrive? This will be a annualised contract where we are seeking weekend only work. This will be two weekends per month working both Saturday and Sunday 7:30am - 7:30pm. We have onsite facilities for candidates who would require staying overnight and travelling from further a field.

Part Time: 12 hours per week | Permanent | Weekends: 2 in 4

Type of work: This is emergency and critical care role with a diverse workload supporting 26 practices out of hours.

A bit about us

Carmarthen Veterinary Centre is a purpose-built, award-winning hospital in the heart of West Wales. We're a busy, multi-discipline practice with a highly experienced and supportive team, and we're proud to provide outstanding care across a varied and interesting caseload - including complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries, as well as exotics and wildlife.

We're RCVS accredited and hold awards for:

  • In-patient Service - Outstanding
  • Client Service - Outstanding
  • Patient Consultation Service - Good

You'll be working alongside 8 small animal vets and a fantastic nursing and support team who enjoy working collaboratively and making the most of everyone's strengths.

The hospital is well equipped, with the recent installation of a CT scanner, further strengthening our diagnostic capabilities. We're always open to developing the service, and you'll be encouraged to get involved in clinical discussions and decision‑making.

The role

We’re looking for a vet with 3+ years' experience to join us. If you’re confident with consults and general surgery and enjoy working as part of a wider clinical team, we’d love to hear from you.
