Are you a qualified Veterinary Care Assistant, or keen to begin your career through an apprenticeship? At Warrington Riverside Vets for Pets, we're offering an exciting opportunity to either join our team as an experienced Veterinary Care Assistant or take your first step into the profession by working towards a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Animal Care and Welfare.
This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week including 1 in 2 weekends, for a fixed term of 18 months.
As a Veterinary Care Assistant you'll be working alongside vets, vet nurses, and our reception team, carrying out a wide range of tasks. We're looking for a team player who is willing to get stuck in, work hard, and is keen to learn. Your tasks will include keeping the practice clean, tidy, and organised, feeding and monitoring in‑patients, running clinical tests, handling a variety of small animals, helping set up for operations, deep cleaning all areas and speaking to clients on the phone and in person.
As part of this apprenticeship, you will be required to complete a level 2 English and Maths functional skills qualification. If you have already achieved GCSEs in English and Maths at Level 4 (grade C) or above, you will not need to complete the functional skills element of this apprenticeship. The successful candidate(s) will be enrolled onto a Level 2 apprenticeship in Animal Care and Welfare. At the enrolment stage, the individual's eligibility will be checked by the training provider. Candidates need to make sure they do not have pre-existing qualifications at the same or higher level in a similar subject as the apprenticeship. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please review the content of the apprenticeship standard on the IfATE website (see link below) and assess whether your previous learning has already covered much of this content. If it has, you're unlikely to be eligible for the apprenticeship.
