Job summary

inspiring vet care at Moorview Referrals in Cramlington, Northumberland, is seeking a Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team on a full-time basis. You will support the clinical team with patient care, handling and a smooth-running practice.

You’ll work under a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse, gaining hands-on experience across kennels, theatre, labs and hydrotherapy, with structured development opportunities in a supportive animal‑care culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience with animals in clinical or non-clinical settings is advantageous.
  • Keen to develop within a veterinary environment and learn on the job.
  • Able to work well in a team and follow directions.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Moorview Referrals on a full-time basis.

Moorview Referrals is a multi-disciplinary, purpose-built veterinary referral hospital based in Cramlington, Northumberland. Our team comprises over 100 team members, ranging from experienced veterinary surgeons to front-of-house teams and administrators, all with the sole goal of delivering our purpose - healthier animals and happier owners.

We pride ourselves on the high level of patient and client care we provide.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely.

Working under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll support inpatient care, assist with patient handling and restraint, help maintain clinical areas and equipment, and contribute to a positive and compassionate experience for both patients and clients.

Working Pattern
  • There will be a 7 on-7 off rota pattern, wokring 12 hour shifts
Key Responsibilities

The role is varied and includes:

  • Patient restraint
  • Kennel duties
  • Laboratory work
  • Cleaning and sterilising equipment and instruments
  • Theatre work, including assisting with procedures
  • Dispensing duties
  • Assisting with hydrotherapy
