A government agency in animal health is seeking a Veterinary Advisor to join the TB Delivery Advice team. This role involves providing expertise and leadership in bovine TB eradication efforts across the UK. The ideal candidate will have a strong veterinary background and influencing skills, participate in strategic decision-making, and facilitate knowledge exchange. Excellent collaboration with operational teams and policy customers is essential. The position may require out-of-hours support and travel to various locations.
We have an exciting opportunity available to work as a Veterinary Advisor in the TB Delivery Advice team, part of APHA's Animal Health and Welfare Advice team. You will play a key role as part of a team led by the Veterinary Head for TB Delivery in the development, implementation, and evaluation of APHA's delivery of bovine TB eradication in England and Wales, and TB control in Scotland. You will work closely with operational delivery teams across Great Britain as well as collaborating with policy customers and a range of stakeholders to provide high quality operational, veterinary, and scientific evidence and advice along with veterinary leadership and technical expertise for the Endemics (bovine TB, Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) and sheep scab) operational work. The role involves a wide range of work including, but not limited to, the following:
You will be required to take part in an out of hours rota and provide telephone advice and immediate response to incidents and emergencies as required by the Business. An allowance will be paid for this work. You must be able to regularly travel to other locations to meet business needs.
