Are you passionate about ensuring excellent mental health care for ex-British Armed Forces veterans—Navy, Army and RAF servicewomen and men? This role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join CWPT OpCourage as a Veterans Team Manager. You will oversee two pathways within OpCourage and manage a team of approximately 14 staff, including peer support workers, nurses, occupational therapists and social workers. You will join a dedicated team from the Midlands OpCourage urgent, non-urgent and treatment pathways, all focused on delivering high-quality care with spirit, camaraderie and trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to join OpCourage, bringing together the three elements of NHS mental healthcare for veterans. The post holder will support the Regional Lead in providing effective frontline management to the multi-disciplinary urgent and non-urgent pathways within OpCourage West Midlands. In agreement with the Regional Lead, you will provide leadership and partnership with contracted colleagues to ensure access to the full range of specialist assessments and interventions offered for veterans and their family members. This is a community-based service providing support to veterans in times of crisis across a large geographical area (West Midlands).

Responsibilities
- Action all referrals and facilitate triage to the urgent pathway as appropriate.
- Provide information to the Regional Lead to assess and challenge service delivery on behalf of veterans where services are not aligned with the veteran’s mental health agenda across the Midlands region.
- Work to improve and promote NHS service provision by actively engaging with third-sector providers who already support veterans across the region.
- Delegate aspects of the role to other team members while maintaining overall responsibility for team delivery where appropriate.
- Work with the Regional Manager to manage caseload and service delivery in line with Service/Trust productivity requirements.
- Assess carers and families’ needs and develop, implement and review support programmes for carers and families.
- Promote direct supervision to specified staff.
- Participate in staff development and performance appraisals as appropriate.
- Recruit to posts within the locality.
- Support the development of professional practice in the service, ensuring clinical supervision.
- Promote the mission and values of the Trust.
- Support the Regional Lead in planning and managing the team’s expenditure within the budget and in accordance with financial policies.
- Attend relevant regional and national meetings and contribute to professional development to meet service user needs.
- Link with peers across Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and Lincolnshire Partnership Trust.
- Assist the Regional Lead by monitoring performance and activity targets.
- Promote equality and ease of access to services, linking with services across the West Midlands.
- Support the development and use of systems to monitor and review service provision against national and local standards, initiating and implementing improvements.
- Support the Regional Lead on service improvement following internal case reviews, complaints and incidents.
- Participate in relevant professional and service improvement groups within the service and Trust-wide.
- Attend countywide groups for health and/or social care and other agencies to support integrated and inclusive pathways of care.
- Advise the Regional Lead of any undue occurrences, complaints or incidents reported or witnessed.
- Liaise with services involved at times of crisis (e.g., police, LIDI teams or A&E staff) and with other OpCourage providers and third-sector agencies to link veterans and families to appropriate support.
