Job description

Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon - Friendly, Independent Practice in Bexhill, FREE ACCOMODATION AVAILABLE

We are looking for a vet to join a lovely independent veterinary practice in Bexhill. Set up with the purpose of not only providing excellent standards of care to their patients but also to their team, by creating a relaxed working environment where everyone feels part of the journey.

The purpose built premises have fantastic facilities including separate cat and dog wards, they have all the usual kit including digital x-ray, ultrasound and in-house laboratory. They also have accommodation available so if you’re relocating they can help ease the process with accommodation.

They are one of the only independent small animal practices in Bexhill‑on‑Sea and although early on in the journey, having opened the purpose‑built premises in August 2022, they’re growing quickly and would love you to bring your ideas and get involved as they evolve. They’re always open to suggestions and ideas on how to improve and develop the practice.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive full‑time vet, a team player with excellent communication skills. A part‑time role can be considered, working at least 3 days a week. There are no out‑of‑hours as this is outsourced to Vets Now. It would be great if you could work 1:2 Saturday mornings (9am to 1pm) but please don’t let this be a deal breaker, we’re happy to chat about a rota that works for you.

They have three RVNs, two receptionists, one animal care assistant and two additional members of the team providing administrative support.

As an independent practice they can offer you the autonomy to work up your cases as you see best and this team ensures great continuity of care. Their lead vet particularly enjoys orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery and is happy to mentor you in more complex surgeries.

They provide protected time throughout the day to catch up on admin and make phone calls, and will always make sure you get a proper lunch break. Evening consults finish at 6.30pm and as the OOHs and in‑patient care is covered by Vets Now, they’re usually out the door by 7pm.

They enjoy getting together outside of work too and regularly meet up for drinks and a meal. Bexhill‑on‑Sea is a seaside town located at the very heart of 1066 Country. Surrounded by both the lovely countryside and the coast, there is lots to explore including nearby St Leonards‑on‑Sea with its growing art scene. There are easy transport links to London and Gatwick airport in just over an hour away.

Benefits
  • A salary up to £80,000 pro rata, depending on experience
  • Five weeks holiday, plus bank holidays
  • Basic CPD allowance of £1500, with certificates supported and funded
  • Paid professional fees for RCVS, Veterinary Defence Society and BVA
  • Accommodation available
  • Employee Assistance Programme
