Job description

The role of NWAS Vehicle Technician is to ensure all Trust vehicles (Petrol / Diesel / Hybrid and EV) are serviced, repaired and maintained to the Trust and DVSA's exacting standards. The post incorporates the skilled service and repair of specialist ambulance equipment. The successful applicant must hold a recognised apprenticeship e.g. Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience along with NVQ or C&G level 3 qualifications. A full UK driving license is essential for this post along with having full category C1 entitlement. Working in a modern workshop environment, our vehicle technicians benefit from significant levels of training, job satisfaction, and an opportunity to progress their current skill sets and CPD whilst being supported by a dedicated management team structure, ensuring our teams have everything available to maximise vehicle throughput, reduced workshop delays and minimal supply chain frustrations. North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. Our highly skilled staff provide life‑saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed. We also provide non‑emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non‑emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need. Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident. We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non‑emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Shift allowance applicable (approximately 12.5% uplift on top of basic salary). Basic Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 per annum (AFC Band 5). Operational requirements for the workshops cover 365 days per year via a rotating shift pattern which attracts an additional salary uplift of approximately 12.5% on top of the basic salary banding.
