Our Transport teams ensure that the National Grid fleet operation is on the road 24/7, 365 days a year. That means taking responsibility for safety, ensuring legal compliance and delivering it all cost-effectively. As well as asset management, the team also oversees driver support and training and strives to ensure National Grid Electricity Distribution employees enjoy a service that enables them to work effectively and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities
  • Routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles, including HGVs.
  • Diagnosing faults and road testing.
  • Maintaining plant trailers and ancillary equipment.
  • Coordinating with suppliers for repairs and servicing.
  • Preparing vehicles for annual testing.
  • Ordering parts and managing stock.
The Ideal Candidate
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
  • Strong mechanical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A team player with great communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential. LGV (Class C) licence is a bonus - but don't worry, we can provide training!
  • Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
