Vehicle Systems Safety Lead Auditor

Bristol or Nuneaton (3 days onsite/travel required – worldwide travel involved)

We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Systems Safety Lead Auditor to lead on the assessment and audit of vehicle manufacturers’ safety management systems as part of the Type Approval process.

This role involves global travel, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and leadership in ensuring compliance with international safety standards.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience as a Vehicle Systems Safety Lead Auditor
  • Proven experience conducting audits against automotive safety standards and management systems (e.g., ISO 26262 or ISO 21448).
  • Experience in product development for safety-critical systems such as braking, steering, ADAS, or automated driving systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead audits and assessments of vehicle manufacturers’ safety management systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct safety management audits and evaluate process effectiveness against ISO 26262 / ISO 21448.
  • Attend and document vehicle testing, providing detailed, accurate evaluations.
  • Determine compliance outcomes and support efficient Type Approval delivery.
  • Guide and mentor engineers, ensuring high standards and consistency in approval procedures.
  • Collaborate with technical leads on policy, standards, and interpretation development.
