Job summary

A waste management company in Rainham is seeking a Vehicle & Mobile Plant Fitter to ensure the reliability and safety of mobile plant operations. This role involves repairing and maintaining machinery, providing technical support, and performing essential repairs across various sites. Ideal candidates should have experience with heavy machinery and a good understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems. It's a full-time position with 41 hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Able to diagnose faults, repair and maintain machinery.
  • Previous experience with heavy machinery or in a mechanical role.
  • Experience with JCB, CAT, CASE, Volvo tricks, and forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to mobile plant operations.
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Repairing mobile plant at ELWA sites.

Job description
Vehicle & Mobile Plant Fitter - Frog Island, Rainham Essex

£45,432.92 per annum

41 hours per week - Mon-Fri

The successful candidate will be a certified Fitter/Mechanic who will be responsible for repairing and maintaining mobile plant to ensure utmost reliability and safety whilst reducing downtime. Working as part of a small team, you must be willing to perform tasks outside of the role description.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing technical support to all mobile plant operations
  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance tasks around the ELWA sites
  • Repairing mobile plant around the ELWA sites
  • Anticipate mobile plant failures and make such changes or recommendations to prevent reoccurrence to minimize downtime
  • Using hand tools, welding equipment, powered hand tools and cutting equipment
  • Ensuring H&S standards are maintained, and all related documentation is completed
  • Liaising with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work
  • Travelling and working between ELWA Sites as and when required.
Essential criteria for this role
  • Able to diagnose faults, repair and maintain machinery, and have a good understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Previous experience working with heavy machinery or in a mechanical / Auto electrical role can be beneficial
  • Experience on the following JCB, CAT, CASE, Volvo Tricks, Walking Floor Trailers and Forklifts
