A well-known international company in Swindon is seeking a Mechanic to work in a busy VMU. The role involves running repairs and accident damage on HGV vehicles and trailers. A LGV Cat CE license is preferred but not essential. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience and some electrical knowledge. The pay is £19.20 per hour with additional benefits, including 28 days holiday per annum. Weekend work may be required on rotation.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Mechanic to work in a busy VMU for a well-known and established international company here in Swindon. A LGV Cat CE (Class 1) licence would be preferred although not essential.

The workshop is in a new VMU in a busy RDC. You will be working within a small team carrying out running repairs and accident damage on HGV vehicles and trailers. Ordering and maintaining the stock of parts, liaising with third party service providers to organise inspections and servicing of units and trailers.

Servicing and repairs of the fleet of refrigerated units on the trailers …. Training will be provided if the candidate has a good basic mechanical understanding.

Ideally you would have 3 years min experience in the trade and some electrical knowledge and diagnosis skills would be an advantage.

The pay is £19.20 per hour with a 40 hour per week contract, all overtime is paid at the normal hourly rate. An additional £4.00 per hour paid when deputising for the leader. It will involve occasional weekend work on rotation.

Benefits include 28 days holiday per annum, raising to 33 days after 2 years.
