Vehicle Mechanic

Grade SSS: £29,028.20 - £32,293.24 per annum (pay award pending)

Post Number: SW100

Permanent - 37 Hours per week (plus standby and call out payments)

Cannock Chase Council’s Waste and Engineering Services Section is looking for an experienced Vehicle Mechanic to carry out servicing and repairs on the Council’s vehicle and plant fleet. The fleet comprises of commercial vehicles ranging from small lightweight vans to HGV’s and includes ad-hoc plant and machinery.

Applicants should have experience working on similar types of vehicles and plant and should hold a City and Guilds Motor Vehicle Craft Studies qualification or equivalent. A current driving licence is essential, preferably to HGV standard.

You will be required to have a flexible approach to work, be prepared to work as part of a small team, with the ability to switch between tasks whilst working to set deadlines.

The successful applicant will have literacy, numeracy and IT skills sufficient to complete necessary paperwork associated with a modern vehicle workshop and must be prepared to receive training relevant to the post.

You will be expected to participate in MOT testing and an out-of-hours call out rota for breakdowns and depot security.
