Vehicle Maintenance Technician - Chertsey
  • Contract- Permanent Full time 37.5 hours/week
  • Band 5 - £31,049 - £37,796 per annum
  • Location- Chertsey

We have an exciting opportunity for a Vehicle Maintenance Technician at our Chertsey workshop.

You will be a part of a friendly team working on a rota basis supporting operations. The ideal candidates will need to be flexible and able to work on weekends and bank holidays. There will be an additional unsocial payment for unsocial hours worked. Our workshops are open 7 days a week from 6am - 8pm. This post has a cost of living allowance.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will:

  • Service, repair and maintain a diverse fleet of vehicles and specialist ambulance equipment to emergency use standards, using the requisite skills and expertise in line with current Health and Safety legislation
  • Working on a large fleet of Mercedes Sprinter & Vito, Fiat Ducato, MAN TGE, Skoda, DAF and Iveco vehicles used by the Ambulance Trust, you will carry out all types of work on our ambulances and service vehicles. If successful, you will be given main dealer training.
  • Examine, inspect and report thoroughly on the condition,roadworthiness or safety of any vehicle or equipment, including testing anduse of diagnostic techniques
  • Regularly communicate technical information with line managers,colleagues, other SECAmb staff by phone and e-mail to arrange appointments and prepare vehicles for Ministry Testing at Class IV and VII as per the Ministry of Transport testers manual
  • To recover any broken down or immobilised vehicle or equipment in a safe manner without a risk to staff and public or additionaldamage to SECAmb property in accordance with accepted legislation.

The successful candidates will have sound experience in vehicle maintenance, fault diagnosis and have experience of applying company policies in respect of safety and maintenance practice and standards.
