Job description

As a Vehicle Examiner, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll be at the heart of our mission to support the UK's defence capability. This is a hands‑on, technically rewarding role where you'll inspect and assess military and civilian vehicles adapted for specialist use. Your work will directly contribute to the safety, reliability and operational readiness of vital defence assets. Day‑to‑day you'll be:

  • Inspecting military and civilian vehicles, assemblies, electrical systems and specialist equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults and ensuring vehicles meet defined military standards.
  • Supporting production needs by completing inspection tasks following platform‑specific training.
  • Collaborating with vehicle mechanics and engineering teams to uphold quality and safety.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contributing to continuous improvement.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and is based on site at Ashchurch.

Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a vehicle examiner is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, technical environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
  • Relevant engineering qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of one of the following:
    • DCEME Inspector Vehicle (D827)
    • MOD (RAF) Vehicle Inspector with Q-MT-V-INSP
    • VOSA Approved Vehicle Inspector or military equivalent
  • Must hold current A, B, C, C+E and H driving licences.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions. This means that your eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, current or former citizenship, and any residency you hold or have held.
