Job description
Vehicle Electrician – Overview

As a Vehicle Electrician, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll carry out inspection, servicing, repair and overhaul of military vehicles and associated electrical systems. You'll also perform diagnostic and inspection duties, manufacture miscellaneous items, and complete examination tasks to meet production needs. This is a hands‑on role where your expertise will directly support the UK's defence capability.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
  • Carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on job cards
  • Diagnose, inspect and assess vehicles and associated mechanical/electrical equipment
  • Accurately record job transactions in ERP systems and submit daily updates
  • Create job cards and demand material where ERP training has been completed
  • Complete vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates to current standards
Key Skills and Attributes
  • Ability to take responsibility for unresolved issues or escalations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience building effective relationships internally at various levels
Qualifications

Completed recognised Military or Civilian training in the relevant trade discipline OR an accredited Apprenticeship. Attained at least one of the following:

  • City & Guilds Level 1, 2 & 3 (in relevant trade discipline)
  • ONC (in relevant trade discipline)
  • NVQ Level 3 (in relevant trade discipline)
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.

Work Location and Hours

Location: Ashchurch, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. Working times: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week. The role involves manual work including lifting, bending, using tools, and standing for extended periods.

Medical Requirements

The successful candidate will be required to pass a targeted medical questionnaire and/or medical examination as a condition of employment for this role.
