Job description
Commercial Vehicle Body Builder – Atworth, Wiltshire

£36,504 annual starting salary pending experience, plus bonus opportunities available.

45 hours: 7:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 7:00am-2:30pm on Friday. Flexibility given and required.

Our client, a commercial vehicle bodybuilder who is part of a larger multi‑award‑winning dealer group, is currently recruiting for a Vehicle Body Builder for their centre in Atworth.

Responsibilities
  • Working independently and on own initiative to set timelines and standards.
  • Read engineering and fabrication drawings provided and work from own initiative.
  • Experience in drilling, jigged and un‑jigged assembly to drawings and using power tools safely to do so.
  • Preferred experience in MIG/TIG welding fabricated parts following engineering drawings to specific company standards and procedures, meeting company and customer requirements.
  • Installation of insulated panels on commercial freezer bodies.
  • Basic wiring knowledge of lights and fixtures on commercial vehicles.
  • To carry out fabrication work as directed, ensuring that stated quality and safety standards and associated procedures are met.
  • Ensure standards of good housekeeping are achieved in all work areas, including workshops, vehicles and onsite locations.
  • Unloading deliveries and storing them in the correct locations.
  • Carry out any other reasonable projects, tasks, or duties to support the business as directed by management.
  • Ensuring compliance with company H&S, maintenance procedures & quality control to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Ensure good personal timekeeping and conduct in line with agreed policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all safety, regulatory rules, and company changes/alterations to working practices are adhered to.
  • Carry out duties with minimum supervision using own initiative to plan and prioritise workload within set timescales.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Previous vehicle body assembly and building experience.
  • Experience in fabrication and MIG/TIG welding.
  • Own tools and a UK driving licence with minimal points.
  • Formal qualifications in vehicle body building preferred but not essential (training is provided).
  • Eye for detail; excellent understanding of manufacturing process; good communication skills; positive attitude; self‑motivated; willingness to solve problems as they arise.
