Job summary

A business advisory firm in Greater Manchester is seeking an experienced VAT advisor to provide advisory and compliance services for a diverse portfolio of corporate clients. The ideal candidate has extensive UK VAT knowledge and experience, along with the ability to manage client relationships and identify opportunities for new services. A degree and ideally CTA and/or ACA qualifications are required. This position offers a competitive benefits package.

Working hard and working together, our Tax team provides expertise in many different specialist areas of tax. We collaborate across BDO to deliver wider business solutions, from meeting clients’ evolving business needs to managing changes to legislation.

We’ll help you succeed

This role will provide VAT advisory and compliance services for a wide range of corporate clients. UK VAT experience/knowledge across various sectors is essential. The primary responsibility will be to manage a portfolio of existing clients and develop targets to ensure business growth.

You will also provide assistance to senior staff members in client work and group management. Key to the role is pro-actively managing your own workload, communicating with directors/partners regularly, and considering opportunities to develop new work.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Significant understanding and previous experience of UK VAT with in-depth knowledge of recent updates and areas of focus.
  • Responsibility for providing VAT advice to clients, with some time spent reviewing UK VAT compliance.
  • Ability to manage a large and varied client portfolio.
  • Ability to actively seek opportunities for selling new services to existing clients.
  • Experience dealing directly with HMRC and client senior management.
  • Educated to degree level, and ideally CTA and/or ACA qualified or equivalent.
