Job summary

Pure Search is recruiting a VAT Manager to join a leading Indirect Tax team in London. You will manage a portfolio of VAT clients, delivering high-quality advisory services across structuring, risk management, partial exemption, compliance, and transaction support.

You will review junior staff work, support Partners on complex projects, and help train and develop junior colleagues while building strong client relationships. Hybrid working available within a Top 10 professional services firm.

Qualifications

• ACA/CTA/ATT qualifications required or indirect tax specialist with VAT experience.
• Solid UK VAT technical foundation with experience advising diverse clients.
• Experience advising financial services clients or interest in sector development beneficial.
• Capable of managing own client portfolio in a professional services setting.
• Excellent communication to explain complex VAT matters clearly and commercially.

Responsibilities

Job description

A Top 10 professional services firm based in London is seeking a VAT Manager to join its growing Indirect Tax team.

This role offers the opportunity to work with a portfolio of financial services businesses including financial services businesses, large corporates, owner-managed businesses, and international groups, while playing an important role in the continued growth and development of the VAT practice.

The Role:

• Manage and develop a portfolio of VAT clients, delivering high-quality VAT advisory services.
• Advise clients on a range of indirect tax matters, including VAT structuring, risk management, partial exemption, VAT compliance, and transaction support.
• Review VAT returns and technical advice prepared by junior team members, ensuring a high standard of technical accuracy and client service.
• Support Partners and Directors on complex advisory projects and significant client matters.
• Contribute to the training, coaching, and development of junior staff.
• Build strong client relationships, acting as a trusted point of contact for day-to-day VAT queries and wider indirect tax matters.
• Identify opportunities to enhance client service and support broader practice growth.

About You:

• ACA, CTA and/or ATT qualified, or an indirect tax specialist with strong VAT experience.
• A solid technical foundation in UK VAT, with experience advising a range of clients and sectors.
• Experience advising financial services clients, or a strong interest in developing expertise within the sector, would be advantageous.
• Comfortable managing your own client portfolio in a professional services environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex VAT matters clearly and commercially.
• Proactive, organised, and interested in contributing to business development and internal initiatives.
• Able to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues and work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
