Our VAT specialists work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a joined‑up service to a diverse range of clients, from middle market businesses to large corporations, combining expertise in accounting, audit and all relevant taxes. As a national VAT practice, we provide the freedom to find the right balance between sector specialism and general advisory, as well as an opportunity to initiate and develop new areas of focus for the team.

As an Associate in our London office, you will manage and control VAT client work including the review and preparation of VAT returns. You will undertake detailed planning and implementation of VAT work, ensuring the provision of an effective and cost driven service to clients in line with budgets.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the assignment is undertaken in accordance with the pre‑assignment instructions, and carrying out more complex aspects of the assignment efficiently, thoroughly and in accordance with the firm’s procedures.
  • Always ensuring VAT quality as directed by the Partner, and assisting with internal and external quality assurance, ensuring any actions are completed in line with the firm’s professional standards.
  • Continually wanting to improve your technical knowledge, client relationship and organisational skills to develop your own career.
  • Responding to clients’ correspondence as a matter of priority and keeping the client and Partner fully informed of the current status of the VAT work.
  • Enjoying working with different tax teams and service lines to get experience in providing premium solutions focused advice to our clients.
  • Acting as the day‑to‑day point of contact for the client and always practising the principles of excellent client service.

  • Preferably someone who is part qualified in either an accountancy or tax qualification (e.g. ATT‑CTA).
  • Background in an accountancy practice with good knowledge of VAT.
  • Proven experience in dealing with clients and working within a team.
  • Experience of using specialist tax software is advantageous.
