What You’ll Do
  • Set up and oversee high‑quality EPA assessments (practical tasks, professional discussion, knowledge test) for automotive apprentices, including mock assessments.
  • Work with employers and our college team to prepare apprentices for the gateway and EPA process.
  • Liaise with colleagues such as Deputy Head and Exams team alongside assessors, apprentices and their employers and IMI awarding body to coordinate EPAs within apprentices required time period.
  • Provide feedback to apprentices, identify gaps, and ensure evidence meets assessment standards.
  • Maintain records, ensure compliance with awarding body requirements, and support continuous improvement of EPA processes.
  • Bring your industry insight to ensure our assessments reflect current automotive technologies and practices.
What You’ll Bring
  • A teaching / training qualification or assessor qualification (A1 / TAQA).
  • Significant hands‑on experience in the automotive sector (maintenance, diagnostics, EV / hybrid systems would be a plus).
  • Previous experience as an EPA assessor or internal / external assessor in further education / training.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — you will be working with apprentices, employers and academic staff.
  • Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage a variable schedule and work independently.
  • Commitment to high quality, fairness and integrity in assessment.
  • A flexible, collaborative approach — as this is variable hours, you’ll need to adapt to busy periods and plan accordingly.
