Overview

Van Driver/Public Realm Operative

This is an opportunity to join Gi Group and work with one of our Local Authority Clients in the centre of Nottingham. This role will be part of a large team of Drivers (public realm operatives), supporting the environmental services provided by the Council. You will be a frontline worker who maintains and improves the appearance and functionality of public spaces like streets, parks, and open areas.

Responsibilities

• Cleansing: litter picking, sweeping, emptying bins, and removing waste.
• Maintenance: carrying out minor repairs, reporting damage, and assisting with grounds maintenance.
• Safety: identifying and addressing hazards, ensuring public spaces are safe for use.
• Public Engagement: interacting with the public in a positive and helpful manner.

Requirements

• Physical Fitness: many tasks require physical exertion, so a good level of fitness is needed.
• Outdoor Work: public realm operatives work in all weather conditions.
• Equipment Operation: may need to use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
• Teamwork: often work both independently and as part of a team.
• Driving Licence: a valid driving license is required, especially for operating company vehicles; you may be required to drive/operate larger vehicles or machinery.
