Job summary

Atlas Copco Vacuum Technique in Burgess Hill is seeking a Development Technician to join the Global Technology Centre. You will develop and test next-generation vacuum pump technology, set up measurement rigs, and turn results into engineering insights.

You will run tests, troubleshoot root causes, and report findings with pace while building pumps and test rigs for rapid iteration. Safety and quality drive all work.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship plus post-apprenticeship experience required.
• Ability to fault find, analyze root causes and investigate tests.
• Strong IT skills with test software and data tracking.
• Hands-on with sensors, DAQ and interfacing to capture quality data.
• Experience in development, research or industrial testing to plans and standards.

Responsibilities

• Put safety first and follow lab standards daily.
• Support risk assessments and safe working methods; raise hazards.
• Set up and run test rigs; ensure data is reliable and repeatable.
• Execute test plans using DAQ; troubleshoot to root cause.
• Capture data and produce clear test logs and reports.
• Plan work and communicate progress with engineers and teams.
• Mentor apprentices and junior technicians on safety and practice.
• Own lab areas and drive 6S and equipment readiness.
• Build, configure and strip pumps and test hardware for rapid iteration.
• Drive improvements to strengthen capability, reliability and safety.
