Job summary

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London is seeking an experienced nurse to join the antenatal clinic team as a vaccine nurse. You will deliver the vaccination programme to women and birthing people accessing our maternity services, working as part of a diverse team.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with UK registration.

Responsibilities

Main duties of the job

• Carry out planned vaccinations for a group of patients without direct supervision
• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based individualised patient care
• Assist and advice staff, both registered and unregistered, in the delivery of patient care and vaccinations
• Maintain accurate clinical records of the patient and plan vaccinations accordingly
• Undertake procedures in line with national protocols
• Have responsibility for the correct administration and custody of medicines according to Trust policy
• Monitor patients’ progress, work towards safe and timely administration of vaccinations and ensure barriers are identified and acted on appropriately
• Act as the patient’s advocate
• Ensuring pregnant women/people and newborn babies with incomplete/unclear immunisation schedules are fully supported to receive appropriate vaccinations
• Ability to demonstrate an awareness of public health concerns, i.e. Domestic violence, child abuse, etc. and make appropriate referrals
