Job summary

West Dunbartonshire Council invites applications for a proactive Town Planner to join the development planning and place team on a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2028. The role requires a degree-level Town Planning qualification and full membership of RTPI.

You will help prepare a new style Local Development Plan and contribute to shaping West Dunbartonshire's local places, supporting flexible working and work-life balance within the council.

This post is fixed term until 31/03/2028.

We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual to join the development planning and place team at West Dunbartonshire Council. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can work independently, take ownership of their responsibilities, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.

The successful candidate will join the team at a time when the Scottish planning system is undergoing change and will be involved in preparing a new style local development plan and shaping the future of West Dunbartonshire's local places, pushing forward an agenda for positive change.

You will be required to be educated to degree level or equivalent with a relevant Town Planning qualification and have full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
