Job summary

MathWorks offers a summer UX Design internship in our Engineering Development Group in Cambridge. You will work on real UX projects, turning sketches into wireframes and prototypes, while learning about software engineering and user experience.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, gain experience with usability testing, and build a portfolio. The internship runs 3–4 months starting in June or July, with a hybrid setup between office and home.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Master’s level or PhD in a technical discipline.
• STEM degree (e.g. Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Engineering, Information Design, Architecture, Cognitive Sciences).
• Knowledge of user-centered design, UX methods, or UI/UX design.
• Ability to grasp technical concepts and translate those to UI representations.

Responsibilities

• Transform requirements from sketches into wireframes and prototypes to address user needs and project vision.
• Collaborate with development and marketing teams to implement coherent UX solutions for MathWorks products.
• Support usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback.
