Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking an experienced Utility Surveyor to join our field team covering London and South East England. The role offers a salary of £36,000–£46,000 depending on experience, plus a company vehicle and overtime potential.

Based primarily in the London & SE region, you will handle high-tier utility detection projects, apply PAS 128 standards, and contribute to site safety, reporting, and client liaison. A 3+ year background and driving license are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience undertaking Utility Surveys.
• Understanding of PAS 128 standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of site hazards and H&S procedures.
• Driving license and CSCS card holder.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Strong reporting and data processing skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out utility detection surveys from site detection to written reports and deliverables.
• Apply PAS 128 standards using Electromagnetic location and GPR across varied sites.
• Conduct dynamic risk assessments and maintain safety communications.
• Manage client expectations and explain survey outputs to stakeholders.
• Handle on-site documentation and ensure permits are signed off.
• Perform post-survey quality checks and collaborate with Land Surveyors for data accuracy.
• Operate with autonomy and make technical decisions within limits.
• Provide mentoring to junior staff and support cross-team collaboration.
• Identify opportunities to upsell company products and services.
• Maintain company vehicle and equipment in good condition.

The company Our client is a leading Specialist Multi-Disciplinary Survey Consultancy operating from several different regional offices throughout the UK, who is on the lookout for an experienced Utility Surveyor to join their growing team. With survey teams strategically placed across the country, the ideal candidate will be based around London and the Home Counties to handle high-tier engineering utility detection across sites in London and SE England

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience undertaking Utility Surveys.
• Full understanding of PAS 128 and the procedures involved.
• Understanding of site-specific hazards and H&S Procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work, with effective problem-solving skills.
• A strong team player, capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with other survey team members and colleagues of the wider group.
• Have a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the work.
• Demonstrable experience working with Electromagnetic & GPR equipment.
• Proficient IT Skills (AutoCAD Beneficial, but not essential).
• Hold a full clean Driving License.
• Strong planning and organizational skills to be able to manage your own time and workload.
• CSCS Card Holder (minimum).
• Beneficial to have experience with Trimble GPS, Total Stations etc.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Survey Execution: Carry out all aspects of a utility detection survey, from site detection to providing written reports and checking deliverables.
• PAS 128 Standards: Demonstrate comprehensive experience using both Electromagnetic location and GPR on a range of sites of various scale and complexity independently and as part of a team to strict PAS 128 standards.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Conduct and complete dynamic risk assessments on site, actively communicating safety issues to the survey team, client, other stakeholders, and management.
• Client Relationship Management: Manage client expectations and relationships professionally, including technical walk-and-talk sessions to guide clients through survey outputs and highlight areas of interest or concern.
• Site Documentation: Handle the administrative exchange of paperwork on site and ensure all necessary engineering permits are signed off accurately.
• Office Quality Control: Work in the office post-survey to perform quality control checks, execute data processing adjustments, and collaborate with Land Surveyors to guarantee absolute data accuracy.
• Autonomous Technical Ownership: Operate without direct day-to-day supervision, making key technical project decisions within specified limits of authority while maintaining the highest consistency standards.
• Team Leadership & Mentoring: Provide technical guidance and direction to multi-disciplinary field teams on large, complex survey projects, alongside training and mentoring junior staff to support career progression.
• Commercial Enablement: Contribute effectively to ensure the smooth running of projects within agreed priced completion periods and actively identify opportunities to up-sell additional company products and services.
• Asset Management: Ensure the company vehicle and all supplied high-tier survey equipment are carefully maintained in good working order in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and internal policies.
• Operational Flexibility: Adopt a flexible approach to working hours and logistics, demonstrating full willingness to undertake overtime, night shifts, and weekend works to fulfill client and project requirements.
