Job summary

Synthomer plc is seeking an experienced Utilities & Facilities Technician at our Harlow site. You will maintain and optimise site utility systems, including steam boilers, cooling towers, compressed air and nitrogen equipment, while driving reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates bring a recognised Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation apprenticeship and at least five years of industrial maintenance experience, plus BOAS and strong teamwork skills for a hands-on, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering.
• BOAS qualification.
• At least 5 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues across the site.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and supporting critical utility systems including steam boilers, cooling towers, compressed air, chillers and nitrogen generation.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities across site utilities and facilities.
• Diagnosing and resolving equipment faults efficiently and safely.
• Supporting the Utilities & Facilities Supervisor in managing engineering risk and asset reliability.
• Ensuring compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) standards.
• Maintaining high housekeeping standards and updating engineering documentation and procedures.
